Equipment Loan Program
The Equipment Recycling Center
The Equipment Recycling Center (ERC), better known as the "loan closet", was established to maintain durable medical equipment for use by clients in immediate need and to provide temporary assistance until appropriate permanent equipment is purchased or repaired. The loan closet contains durable medical equipment such as manual and electric wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, portable ramps, cushions and adaptive bathroom equipment that are loaned to clients in need. In order to obtain equipment in the loan closet, clients must contact their Case Manager. The Case Managers determine the availability of the needed equipment and if it is available, arrange for it to be loaned out to the client.
The ERC is run on an extremely limited budget. While the agency is able to purchase some additional equipment each year, many of the wheelchairs made available for loan are those donated by individuals who no longer need them. In addition, we also need help in the workshop repairing and cleaning equipment. If you have a manual or electric wheelchair or other durable medical equipment (walker, hospital bed, therapeutic cushion) in good working condition that you would like to donate to the Commission (a tax deductible donation), please contact ASCC at (501)296-1788 to arrange for the donation. We are unable to accept braces or other equipment that is custom fitted to an individual.
Wheelchair Tire Recycling Program
ASCC is offering a new Wheelchair Recycling Program to clients who have wheelchairs with pneumatic tires size 24" x 1 3/8" and who can change a tire or have someone in the home who can. There are no financial eligibility criteria for this program.
The program is free and very simple. Your local ASCC Case Manager will give you a tire recycling bag containing tires, tubes and instructions. When you have a flat or need a replacement, you put the new tires and tubes on your wheelchair, put the old ones in the bag and contact your Case Manager for a replacement. Your Case Manager will pick up the old bag and give you a new bag.
The only rules are that you must:
